Hmm

Here is something you don't see everyday. It seems that not a lot of thought went into the "poll" but whatever, let me know what the reparations are and I'll let you know whether or not I'll "Go back to Africa"

prayer doesn't work.

Well, I could have told you that... and it wouldn't have cost you 2.5 mil.

Prayer is specious reasoning.. nothing more.

being fat

I'm not sure when I realized I was fat.. I think it was in my mid to late twenties. See, I was never the "fat" kid in school, I was always the "big" kid, picked first for football, last for track kind of big. 175 pound senior in high school kind of big. I was always ok with my size; in fact I kind of embraced it. See, my size, for the most part kept me out of fights, kept me in the "in" crowd, and lots of chicks dig "big" guys.

At some point "big" turned to fat. 180 pounds turned into 265 pounds. It was a very slow process, and I don't remember gaining all the weight. But at some point I looked in the mirror and said "who is this fat fuck"? When did I turn into getting picked first for football to getting picked first for Olympic beer drinking? Once I came to the realization that I was a whale I tried to rationalize it... "Hey, I'm married.. this is what happens to married guys". A nice round gut is a sign that you're successful right?

I recently mentioned the fact that I realized I was getting fatter by the day to a friend and he said something so ridiculously simple, yet amazingly profound at the same time.

"Stop being like the typical American, stop eating and drinking so much"

BRILLIANT! Why haven't I thought of this? I laughed when he said it... what the fuck do you know you skinny bastard I thought.

Later that night I was sitting in front of the T.V. working on my 3rd beer, thinking about what my friend said, and it occurred to me. He was absolutely right... it really IS that simple. There is no reason to over eat or drink other than the fact that it is in front of you. We're not starving.. we don't have to hurry up and stuff our faces so that the food isn't stolen from us. Americans are the epitome of gluttony... we eat so much simply because we can.

I'm not going to get into my whole theory of fat Americans, just let me say that conversation my friend and I had really hit home. That was in December... since that day I've changed my eating and drinking habits in a big way. I work out 4-5 days a week and I'm down 30 pounds. My goal is 25 more pounds and I don't see how I can't reach it if I keep doing what I'm doing.

Yea me!

Now get off your collective asses and stop being the typical American!

So, I'm back...

I've decided to give blogging another chance. I really do enjoy it, and I realize it takes dicipline to write down your thoughts... There were so many times when i said damn I should write this in my blog, and just never did it. A friend of mine is right... it takes some getting used to. So, here I am....

Sirius, Stern and the FCC

Those of you that follow Howard and probably some of you that don't, by now, have heard that he is moving to satellite radio very soon. In fact his last day on terrestrial radio is tomorrow, 12/16/05. This is a huge step for Howard and for radio in general. Besides the 500 million over 5 year contract, one of the main reasons for him leaving regular radio was the constant censorship of his content. Now as Howard begins a new "life" on satellite there are rumblings about decency and "level playing fields". Luckily, Congress doesn't have the right to censor cable tv or satellite radio like they do broadcast tv thanks to the first amendment. But, with all that's going on with the world today, don't we have bigger fish to fry than Howard Stern and potty jokes? It just seems like a really asinine cause to take up. But what scares me is, I'm sure given enough time... and Howard pissing off enough people the powers that be will find SOME way to censor these subscription services, in the name of "decency". I, for one, really have no interest in having some 75 year old congressman telling me what I can and can’t listen to, especially if I’m paying to hear it.

On a side note, buy some Sirius (SIRI) stock now before it goes through the roof. It’s around $7 a share right now, I’m guessing it will climb to around $9 after Christmas. Also if you don’t have it yet buy yourself a Sirius receiver, it’s worth it for the commercial free music alone.

*note some of this post has been redacted for decency.
No, not really.

CNN Video

Anyone else hate the fact then when you try to watch a video on CNN.com you are forced to sit through some stupid 30 or even 60 second commercial before your video actually plays? Well after some toying around with it, I've discovered that if you click the rewind/reset button (the one that looks like this I<- ) It will completely skip the commercial and start your selected video right away. You can thank me later.
